Mexico's leading convenience store chain can now deliver advanced network security and centralized management to more than 200 stores.

SEATTLE -- April 4, 2014 -- WatchGuard Technologies, a leader in integrated security platforms, today announced that Super Kiosko, one of Mexico's leading convenience store chains, is using WatchGuard's Unified Threat Management (UTM) platforms to deliver advanced security and centralized management for more than 200 stores across four Pacific states. WatchGuard allows Super Kiosko to leverage the layered defense and best-of-breed services of a UTM solution to protect its remote retail locations, secure confidential customer and company data, meet PCI compliance standards, and centralize overall security management.

As a retailer that constantly processes customer credit card purchases, Super Kiosko requires a reliable and secure transaction network for its 200 stores and employees. The company's legacy security system and network devices were becoming obsolete, and were unable to reliably deliver the level of security and information needed to properly protect and set new security policies.

"Due to the nature of our business, the security of transactions and communications between sites must be highly confidential," said Cuauhtemoc Marquez Cervantes, network engineer at Super Kiosko. "We needed new security technology that delivered more functionality, could be deployed at the edge of our network at remote locations, and could be centrally managed by our IT team to ensure PCI compliance and integrity."

The deployment of WatchGuard's UTM platforms allows Super Kiosko to perform real-time transactional monitoring via content inspection that recognizes and blocks threats, along with several VPN options that offer higher flexibility for remote access. The team also uses application control, and monitors bandwidth usage to help manage the overall performance of its wireless connectivity, which it offers for both guests and employees.

To securely manage and monitor the network, Super Kiosko leverages the centralized administration tool, WatchGuard System Manager (WSM), which is available both as a command-line interface and a Web-based interface.

"The ease of configuration when implementing new security policies, creating VPNs and delegating roles through WSM has been really helpful, and has contributed to improving the workload distribution among engineers and response times," continued Cervantes.

WSM, a centralized administrative environment, provides powerful tools to help manage network devices. It supports the easy configuration and modification of licenses, URL filtering, AntiVirus and AntiSpam services, the creation of VPN tunnels through a drag-and-drop interface, and the generation of comprehensive reports in order to minimize network security risks and maintain exceptional service levels in critical situations.

"WatchGuard gives us full control of our network's incoming and outgoing traffic with a high-availability, disruption-free platform," said Cervantes. "Security incidents can be identified and handled immediately with the kind of real-time, data-traffic monitoring that enables proactive management."
